GOSH Charity 2018

Postby Yorkshire Exile » Wed Nov 21, 2018 10:41 am

Folks

Myself, Timmsy and weeman are off to Great Ormond Street Hospital on 6th Dec to do our usual Santa act and hand over a load of toys we have bought with charitable donations - which includes the slices from:

Hare and Tortoise
Opera
Centurions
and also last years runner up prize for the telegraph league of leagues.

So a BIG thank you to everyone who plays these leagues :salute2:

It also includes individual donations and a large accumulation of 2ps from weemans arcade :clap2:

All in we have around £900 worth - which we are going to spend on half a dozen or so kids tablets and loads of soft toys / giveaway presents which Weeman is sourcing once again at cost through his suppliers at Whitehouse Leisure :clap2:

This means there will be a little something for lots of kids stuck in hospital this Xmas and some games etc to help pass the time for those on the wards.

If anyone wants to join us for a cheeky beer - we will be out and about at GOSH / round London from mid-afternoon on Thursday 6th with a meal somewhere and a few more cheeky beers that evening. Sweep is not coming this year if that has previously put anyone off :titter:

My lad Ewan continues to have routine outpatients there every 6 months following 2 operations he had when he was just 5 months old (all is well) and his next appointment is 28th Dec - so it means a lot to me personally :mancdave:

PM me if you want to know more details as we attempt to get organised... our trains getting in at lunchtime is about as far as we've got so far :baseball:

Thanks once again

Andy

Looking forward to catching up with Timmsy and Yorkie.

Hopefully a couple of you can maybe make it as would be superb to meet up.

Can't upload photos from phone as files are too big. :hmmm: good catch up with timmsy and weeman and a successful trip to GOSH. Handed over loads of gear - even though we arrived before Weemans swag- had a good chat with the workers there who said that individual care workers come and select presents from what is donated so that gifts do become tailored and personal.
Thanks to timmsy and weeman for their generosity for food and lodgings :agree1: thanks once again to all or chipped in one way or another :clap2:

Thank you so much for the amazing selection of toys you very kindly donate for the patients here at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We were delighted to receive them, and they will certainly make Christmas extra special for the patients.

GOSH is an extraordinary place where amazing things happen every day. This is only possible thanks to the donations from our supporters throughout the year. These donations allow GOSH to provide world-class care by:

• Funding specialist equipment that improves treatments and diagnoses for our patients.

• Rebuilding and refurbishing the hospital to provide state-of-the-art facilities to treat more patients.

• Providing support services for patients and families, including family accommodation where parents can stay close to their child.

• Supporting pioneering research to find cures and treatments for childhood diseases, giving children all over the world a brighter future.

There are many different fun and easy ways that you can get involved in supporting the hospital throughout the coming year. If you would like to speak to a member of our team about fundraising at home or within your work place, you can call us on 020 3 841 3841 or email fundraising@gosh.org

On behalf of the patients, families and staff at GOSH, I would like to say a very big thank for your generosity. Your support is really very much appreciated

With all our best wishes for 2019.

Kindest regards

Dean

Well done to all those that contributed this year and the especially the chaps that went and handed over the goodies. Lets hope a few of us convert in 2019 and can swell the coffers for the 2019 visit - I may even turn up and keep the normal rabble under control !! Well played :agree1: :agree1:
