This season is a twat

Postby Yorkshire Exile » Sun Jul 30, 2017 8:59 pm

I reckon this season is going to be one of the hardest ever....

Why.....?

Well cos it is so easy to pick a good team....

What the fk are you on about you pigeon bobbing coont....?

There are so many good players in the league and the pricing means you can afford a large number of them. In essence there are so many permutations of legitimate teams which will return you an average of ca150 points per player which for me is the holy grail of starting 11.

Coupled with the easy start Vs season long debate it has me changing around 8 of my 11 and going through every formation in the game

Reckon this year more than ever going to be about hitting streaks. I also reckon the burning of transfers will be immense as folk hop from player to player

Good fking luck. Whoever wins is gonna need it

Ha, its always a twat, the thing is you just don't know how the 'star' payers are going to perform form the off.

At this stage, for me its more about getting your team structure in place to allow you to jump on the transfers without compromising the core of your squad :albino:

Sanchez, Hazard, Mane are all players you want to have at your disposal and its looks like they will all be missing the start of the season, which means you starting with a plan B from the off.

Then you need to try a squeeze in Erikson/Ali and couple of defenders from Chelsea/Spurs/Man U

The Jesus look like a proper bargain.

Midfield bargains won't be clear for a while!

erm yep its a Twat!

Last season was easy I reckon.... I reckon there were 5-6 no brainer picks then finances dictated you picked others to keep you in budget.

This year lots of legit options in the 4-5m midfielders. Lots of defenders in the 3-4m mark.

Attack picks itself for me

Just to give people the heads up.

One player that truly pissed me right off last season week in week out. I've gone nuts deep on him this season so expect him to be utter shite and will probably play a bit part.

I give you: Marcos Alonso Mendoza

Include him at your peril.

Willian is an interesting proposition this year.

I think he could score heavily but he doesn't feature prominently in my early drafts. :dunno:

Will be looking to finalise teams this weekend barring any last minute changes. No Friday night panicking again due to more that the site going into meltdown. Know a few people that forgot about the Friday kickoff last year.

Willian barely started a game and got nearly 150 points. Same price as Mendy tho....

So many options..... :WTF:

Well I've sussed out 90% of my choices, not much variation, have gone for a very similar set up in all me teams.

Only real quandary is which cheap defender/midfield to use at the start of the season. Midfield options are reasonably obvious but defenders are a bit trickier, Cook was a silly price last season so that made things simpler. Burnley have some decent priced options and Ward at 2.3 at first look appears to be the one to go for and 2.3 appears to be super cheap, but Mee/Long (who the telegraph haven't listed :hmmm: ) and Tawkowski muddy the waters here so Lowton at 2.5 my be the best option as I can't see Bardsley (who surely has just been brought in for cover) taking his place.

Still haven't sussed out 100% who the cheapies are gonna be but at least you can have a decent stab and if it goes titis up a swift transfer can be done (after all we get 40 :OFFS: )

At the moment in general my thoughts are with combos of:
Jesus, Lulu, Kane
Mane, Willian, Richie, Erik, Pogba
Valencia, Alonso, Soares, Van Ahnholt, Keane
I'm a keepin my Burnley defender thoughts to myself

Goalies, no coont over 3.0

Also some potential dirt cheap players who have dogshit starting fixtures, so will be on my radar alright for a swift transfer or two :salute2: :albino:

I was happy with my starting teams. Then trippier got injured. I have delved into the bargain basement for a replacement which has led to yet another rejig... :WTF:

I find myself with little or no flexibility.... But a player pool which is actually quite small. I am either going to be very right or very wrong but that is generally my story with tff anyhow. 1 good season followed by 2-3 in the wilderness...

Certain players could destroy me.... I have deliberately avoided a number of established big hitters :what:

Thought I'd sorted all mine but with Danny Rose hankering for a transfer today, Ben Davies might come into a few.

For the first time in a few years I'm very happy with my Cashies initial set ups.

Also like the look of my Tortoise & Hare Teams.

With a few of my others (non cashies) I've varied them up alot rather than in previous years sticking more rigidly to a core nucleus.

I think there are plenty of options this year in the Midfield and Forward area's.

Thankfully I managed to stay clear of Richie (Mata took his place) in all but one team, so I'm happy with that.
Half decent start, Jesus is looking the poorest at the mo especially as alternatives scored decent points, but for once I'm almost believing I can let my starting teams ride till the international break at least :albino:

Out of 15 teams I only have 2 under 50 points. Even my 2 unused credits look good :thumb1:

It would appear so

Lots of popular picks getting double figures and clean sheets galore despite the goals on offer.

Plus it was was the most reliable team news at the start of the season that I can recall, only one of my players (in just one team) awol :albino: :salute2:

The like of Costa, Sanchez, Coutinho and Hazard missing also helped as the starting options were narrowed.

Couple of games in and its not looking as big a twat now

A couple of red cards and one or three predicted big hitters still get into gear could be leaving a few teams looking a tad shabby, especially if they don't get a decent haul in the next set of fixtures. The main thing so far is that there are some potential massive bargains and I suspect a few have made swift transfers to try seek an advantage here, I know I have in a couple of teams :albino:

Sanchez available this weekend, Arsenal have had a shaky start but against dire Liverpool defending he could be back with a bang.

Me too. Trying to make a positive out of Pogba I've fed in some cheap enablers and will then switch from 5-3-2 to 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 when one of the defenders goes wrong. Obviously if they stay fit Hazard and Sanchez are going to come good but not this eff weekend please :tumble:

Must try and resist any changes this weekend although I got a few Willians that could do with replacing.

International break coming up and then need to plan any moves very carefully with an eye on rotation and fixture patterns, fingers crossed I don't need to make any/many transfers until were safely into November ;pray: :albino:
