Russian athletes have been banned from competing at the Rio 2016 Paralympics following the country's doping scandal.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) had opened suspension proceedings following the McLaren report, and has now confirmed the ban

They ban a few in a wheelchair but not the able body ones

There are only three days of Rio 2016 remaining.

Although China lead GB 58-56 on total medals, the table is ranked on golds and GB are ahead by two after wins for Alistair Brownlee, Jade Jones and the sailing duo of Saskia Clark and Hannah Mills on Thursday.

Will Britain (population 64.1 million) win more golds than China (population 1.357 billion)? Will the British beat their London 2012 total of 65 medals?

Here are Gracenote Sports' day-to-day predictions of how it could happen.

Day 14 predictions
GB China
Joe Joyce - bronze, boxing China Team - silver, synchronised swimming
GB women - silver, hockey Liu Hong - gold, 20km walk
GB women - bronze, 4x100m relay Lu Xiuzhi - silver, 20km walk
Lutalo Muhammad - bronze, taekwondo Yin Junhua - silver, boxing
GB men - bronze, 4x100m relay Fu H F/Zhang N - gold, badminton

China will look to close the gap on GB in the battle for gold medals and could land a 20km walk one-two. Their dominance in badminton should bring them level with GB on 22 golds by the end of day 14.

But could GB's women's hockey team upset the odds and beat reigning Olympic and world champions the Netherlands in their first ever Olympic final?

Day 15 predictions
GB China
Helen Jenkins - triathlon, silver Chen Long - gold, badminton
Nicola Adams - gold, boxing Lin Dan - bronze, badminton
Tom Daley - bronze, diving Qiu Bo - gold, diving
Mo Farah - gold, 5,000m Chen Aisen - silver, diving
GB women - bronze, 4x400m relay Team - gold, women's volleyball
Bianca Walkden - gold, taekwondo Zheng Shuyin - silver, taekwondo
Nicola Adams goes for gold in the boxing. But China are predicted to move back into second place early on day 15. In the 10m platform, Tom Daley is third favourite behind the two Chinese divers Qui Bo and Chen Aisen.

Surely Mo Farah will deliver another gold for GB in the early hours of Sunday morning, British time, with world champion Bianca Walkden projected to put GB level on 25 golds with China by the end of the penultimate day of action in Rio.

Day 16 predictions
GB China
No medal predictions on final day for GB Hu Jianguan - bronze, boxing
Li Qian - bronze, boxing
Level on 25 golds each after 16 days, second place would come down to the number of silver medals. China will do their fighting on the canvas but are only predicted to claim bronze as they look to pip GB at the last.

Any shock medal at this point on the final day could be crucial as the battle for second place goes down to the wire.
